PACO Receives $25,000 from PSEG Foundation to Expand Mobile Energy Assistance Across Hudson County
Jersey City, NJ – Puertorriqueños Asociados for Community Organization (PACO) is proud to announce that it has received a total of $25,000 from the PSEG Foundation in support of its Mobile Enrollment Initiative, PACO En Route / PACO En Ruta.
PACO was first awarded $15,000 in 2025 to launch the mobile outreach program, which brings energy assistance enrollment, weatherization referrals, and energy education directly into underserved communities across Hudson County. In January 2026, the Foundation awarded an additional $10,000 to continue and strengthen the initiative’s impact.
PACO En Route / PACO En Ruta was developed to address barriers that prevent residents from accessing critical energy affordability programs, including transportation challenges, language access limitations, and digital navigation gaps. Through recurring enrollment days at senior centers, libraries, family success centers, and community events, PACO provides one-on-one assistance with LIHEAP/USF applications, weatherization pre-screenings, and resource navigation.
“We are deeply grateful to the PSEG Foundation for its continued investment in our community,” said Julio Garcia, Executive Director of PACO. “Our partnership with PSEG spans decades, and this support allows us to meet residents where they are especially seniors and working families who may not otherwise access these critical programs.”
The funding is part of PSEG’s broader $1.5 million Community Relief Initiative, supporting more than 25 local nonprofit organizations addressing essential needs such as food security, housing stability, and utility assistance.
PACO’s mobile model has already served residents across multiple Hudson County municipalities, strengthening trust and expanding access to energy-saving services. With continued support, the organization plans to deepen outreach, increase enrollment capacity, and expand multilingual services to better serve the county’s diverse population.
“Our longstanding relationship with PSE&G reflects a shared commitment to economic empowerment and community stability,” added Julio Garcia. “Together, we are ensuring that families can keep the lights on and remain secure in their homes.”
